Visiting remote areas and discovering the nooks and crannies in all map section generates a high degree of practical influence that is essential to the characteristics of the classical and quintessential quest. Extensive map exploration is encouraged and thoroughly worthwhile. The castle, its inhabitants, its environs, and all related graphical representations, effects, and outcomes, produce a magnificent and chimerical two-dimensional environment to search and to conquer. Pixel art and other corresponding artistic work are expertly crafted, creating a retro and nostalgic atmosphere that is pleasing to the eyes, as well as a delight to experience with all senses. Albeit not all foes are deadly, one must always be careful when dealing even with the most basic adversary if damage is to be avoided. Ranging from earthly animalia to eclectic fantasy forms, all hostile creatures behave intelligently and create appropriate challenges. There is a vast amount and a wide variety of enemies to contend with, including several assorted bosses. The luminescence emitted from items such as lighters, candles, candelabra, torches, and other sources produce moody illuminations and a mysterious ambiance, further enhancing the atmospheric effects of the darkened environs of the game world. Lighting effects throughout all areas is impressive. Attacking enemies, jumping, platforming, and utilizing the many keyboard keys and their derived functions is seamless with the action on the screen in a fluid and swift manner. Technical performance is excellent, remaining at a constant 144 frames per second with little to no noticeable drops. It is set in the hardcore Retro Style, yet refined with the latest features. The game takes place in Harnakon, a huge medieval castle. There are many hilarious references throughout the game.
